Medidata has introduced new clinical operations technologies for addressing key issues linked to the management and oversight of clinical trials.

The technological improvements to the company’s Detect and Rave CTMS (Clinical Trial Management System) will boost data oversight and reporting for sponsors and contract research organisations (CROs) in two ways.

They will enhance the way CROs and sponsors thoroughly monitor their trial data and visualise them to adopt quicker decisions.

Offering end-to-end data and risk surveillance, Medidata Detect provides cross-functional operational teams with the potential for tracking and eliminating risks linked to patient safety and data integrity.

With four modules for data review, data analyses, site performance monitoring and protocol risk monitoring, this update has produced a completely new role-based user experience.

A novel data visualisation tool, Visual Analytics for Rave CTMS enables users to swiftly navigate, search and merge data using intuitive visuals, charts and tables.

With the launch, study teams will now have greater flexibility to view all available data within Rave CTMS and analyse them in ways preferred by them and their organisation.

These two offerings are part of the company’s Digital Oversight Solution, which demonstrated to reduce on-site monitoring days by 33% for each site per year without affecting the quality of the trial.

Furthermore, this solution merges centralised monitoring, risk management, remote monitoring and a strong CTMS in a single platform.

The unified solutions aid teams in transition from late, reactive methodologies to proactive and predictive approaches and back conduct of decentralised and hybrid trials by guaranteeing that no data is lost, missed or lacks clinical context.

Medidata Clinical Operations Technologies R&D senior vice-president Lisa Moneymaker said: “Today’s clinical trials are faster and have vastly more data than ever before, creating opportunities for quicker development of new therapies and improved patient experiences.

“Enhancements to Medidata Detect, combined with the launch of Visual Analytics for Rave CTMS, streamline role-based workflows for data monitoring and significantly enhance clinical data visualisation, providing clinical operations and data management teams with faster access to actionable insights.”

In February this year, the company announced the offering of its Patient Centricity by Design process for clinical trials to sponsors, CROs and sites.
